I don't know many people who can ski well in climbing boots while wearing a big winter pack, and I'm certainly not one of them, so I don't really care what about ski performance on climbing days. Some of my partners find skiing in climbing boots so miserable that they're willing to carry their boots in their pack and switch to proper ski boots for the descent. But I don't like heavy packs, and I'm pretty good at survival skiing—that's what growing up in New England will teach you.Dougald MacDonaldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12084708125730430530noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17198800.post-82586079641224496132009-11-26T19:01:44.531-07:002009-11-26T19:01:44.531-07:00Dougald,

I've read in some of your previous posts that you ski in with your climbing boots. Silvrettas? I've seen lighter, simple looking contraptions out there, especially in Europe, but can't put a name on them.

Thanks, and always a pleasure checking in on your blog!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
